Events

Kentucky is honored to have been able to have the opportunity for the KofC Mexican Martyrs “Reliquary” to tour parts of our state April 5 – April 11, 2025. The Reliquary  contains relics of 6 members of the Knights of Columbus who were martyred during the persecution of Catholics in Mexico from 1926-1929.  The Reliquary seeks to make known in the United States the testimony of these Knights of Columbus priest martyrs and all those who sacrificed their lives for their faith during the time of religious persecution in Mexico.  In 2000, 25 Mexican martyrs were canonized by Pope John Paul II.  Six were members of the Knights of Columbus.  There were Spanish and English  prayer cards and booklets for the KY Mexican Martyrs Relics tour available for attendees.  

The tour took the reliquary to these parishes where the relics were venerated.

St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church – Guthrie, KY 

St. Helen’s Catholic Church – Glasgow, KY 

Cristo Rey Catholic Church – Florence, KY 

St. Paul Catholic Church – Lexington, KY 

St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church – Louisville, KY 

732 pilgrims visited 6 Parishes during 9 events.   The State Deputy sends his Gratitude and Thanks to all who helped coordinate and participate in the events.   Viva Cristo Rey!

St. Peter Knights of Columbus Council #18058 held a Trivia night fundraiser on January 18^th this year for the Assurance for Life group. Assurance for Life expresses the love and grace of Jesus Christ to those facing unplanned pregnancy. They provide medical services as well as many other support services for women and men in a pregnancy crisis. Pictured is our Trivia night in action and Paul Pezel Grand Knight of St. Peter Council presenting a check for $3165.00 to Randy Hardman of Assurance for Life.

Chartered in December 1994, St John St Francis Council 11470 in Georgetown, KY celebrated it’s 30 years of service to the St John and St Francis parishes, the local communities of Scott County and the Knights of Columbus. The evening was filled with food, fun and fellowship. GK Jeff Crump and PGK Dcn Tim Stout did a wonderful job of keeping the evening on track and entertaining. Council Chaplain Fr. Linh Nguyen provide us with a beautiful reflection on what it means to be a member of the Knights of Columbus and a Catholic Gentleman.

A special thank you to SD Luke Williams and his wife Pam. SS Dick Burns and his wife Suzanne, ST Gary Dykuis, and SW John Staudt & his wife Deanna, WES Mike Rinehart and IPSD Tom Johnson & his wife Janet for making time to celebrate this momentous occasion.

The council also took a moment to recognize IPSD Tom Johnson for his years of service to Council 11470 and to the State Council.
