The St Vincent DePaul Store in Owensboro, KY was vandalized in July, when unknown individuals shot out all the windows that line the front of the store. The St Vincent DePaul society was hard pressed to find the money to repair the damage and put out a plea for donations to help. During a regular monthly meeting of the St. Joe & Paul council a member asked me if the council could help the DePaul Society. Being a new council they were unsure of what they were able to do. As District Deputy, I explained they could make a donation to the DePaul Society and that if they would consider doing so I would go to my other councils and ask them to also help by making a donation. I am proud to say that all four of my councils responded with a donation, councils 6101 (Sorgho), 10725 (Precious Blood), 14290 (Lourdes), & 17247 (St Joe & Paul) each council pledged $300.00 and on August 19th checks totaling $1200.00 where delivered to the St Vincent DePaul Store. Pictured are Nancy Harris member of the DePaul Society & Edward Sullivan District Deputy for the four Knights of Columbus councils. They are pictured in front of the new windows of the store. Nancy said the donation from the Knights help put them over the top paying for the repairs. Ed said the councils were excited that they had they ability to help another Catholic origination that does a great deal for those in need in the Owensboro area.
