Every year the Knights of Columbus holds a Tootsie Roll drive to benefit the mentally handicapped. This year Bishop Mulloy Council (Southgate) decided to split the monies raised between Redwood and the Diocesan Catholic Children’s Home (DCCH). The convent of the Missionaries of Charity is located at 1617 Versailles RD, Lexington, KY 40503. They were in need of a clothesline for their facility. A couple of Brother Knights from council 14372 and several Brother Knights from council 15452 at the University of Kentucky gathered the materials and set the posts on April 8th. Assembly 310 in Lexington also contributed to the project.
Recognizing Saint Margaret Mary Parish Altar Servers for their dedicated service to the Church is a component of our #15979 Council’s service program to the Church and youth.
Personalized service award certificates were presented to the Altar Servers of StMM Parish on Saturday, 30 APR 17 in appreciation for their ongoing special ministry. Special thanks to Mr. Kevin McCarron for serving as StMM’s Parish Altar Server Coordinator & doing so much to organize this event.
All St Margaret Mary Parish Altar Servers and their families were invited to enjoy a hearty meal of fresh fruit, salad, Little Caesar’s Pizza, cookies, coffee, iced tea, fruit juices, & water in the Hospitality Room following the Saturday 5PM Mass.
Pax Christi council #15613 in Lexington held a 40 Cans for 40 Days food drive again this year. They collected around 4,000 pounds of food which was split between Gods Pantry and the Catholic Action Center. In fact, it was the first delivery in their new location. Attached are pictures the 4 overflowing barrels for Gods Pantry and Jack Kubik’s pickup weighed down for Catholic Action Center.
