The battle flag on the right has a sign where it was last flown. The base was under seize from Vietcong. Special forces were called in to save the men. After all the men were evacuated under fire, the last copter was leaving and pilot noticed the flag was flying at the base. They went back in under fire and cut the flag down so Vietcong could not capture the flag. Our Brother Sir Knight Norman Geist cut the flag down and stored it. The next time The flag flew free was on our float on November 11th, 2019. When the judges learned of the flag history Norman and his wife Kelly stood in front of the people of Cadiz and Norman told his story. Needless to say, we won the Judges Award.

Warriors to Lourdes
There is an invisible wound of war that is only beginning to draw public attention. In addition to mental and emotional suffering, moral injury represents the spiritual dimension of trauma. This important and timely topic is brought to life with searing emotion in Warriors to Lourdes, a new documentary film produced by the Knights of Columbus. This 28-minute film highlights the transformative experience of the annual Warriors to Lourdes pilgrimage for wounded, ill and injured veterans seeking physical and spiritual healing. Through very personal accounts of men and women in uniform, along with those of military chaplains, the film showcases the life-changing impact of this spiritual pilgrimage. These stories reveal that sometimes the greatest acts of courage occur not on the battlefield but inside the human heart.

Bishop Mulloy Council 1301 In Eucharistic Procession
Bishop Mulloy K of C Council 1301 recently participated in The Holy Name Men’s Society Eucharistic Procession in Over the Rhine section of downtown Cincinnati. The event started off with an opening Mass at St. Peter in Chains Cathedral with Archbishop Dennis Schnurr as presider. Next the crowd of approximately 500 men and boys accompanied the Eucharist, parading through the streets of Over the Rhine praying the rosary and singing religious hymns. Benediction was offered at two makeshift alters on the streets along the way. The two mile procession ended at Old St. Mary Church in Over the Rhine. After the service was over, coffee and doughnuts were offered in the court yard. It was truly an inspirational event. It was awesome! Submitted by:Deacon Bill Theis
2019 Rosary Rally
Today marks 102 years from the day that Mary appeared to the children of Fatima. The parish ladies organization, Hands of Mary, and members of Council 11470 joined together to publicly recite the Rosary along with additional prayers provided by America Needs Fatima. I was happy to organize the event with Barbara Stripplehoff and look forward to the next one. In total there were 27 participants. Fr. Linh lead the procession and members of the group alternated reciting the decades in English & Spanish. Immaculate Mary was sung between each decade and the group, lead by Father Linh, chanted the Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary. We concluded by repeating the Divine Praises after Father and singing O Sanctissima.
Today’s event is exactly what the Faith In Action initiative is all about. Members of the Knights of Columbus joining with our pastor and parishioners in publicly professing our Catholic Faith.
